Visible Light can now disinfect water?

Visible Light can now disinfect water? Yes, you heard me correctly!

Of course its still experimental and uses some pretty high tech materials; namely nanoparticles of palladium.
The actual disinfection takes place due to nitrogen doped titanium oxide which kill bacteria but not very efficiently. The photocatalyst, working between 400 and 550 nanometers (visible light spectrum) greatly increases the disinfection efficiency. More here >>> water disinfecting

OK, we just purchased a PUR FM-9400 Faucet Filter from LOWES after doing some comparison shopping. We’ll be posting our comments on our blog. The 3 stage PUR horizontal water filter comes highly rated as a consumers Best Buy due to its filtering capabilities and ability to adsorb gases and some nasty organics. Water filtration and water purification go hand in hand… do you know the difference?

Water Filtration is removing particulates and other dissolved minerals from the filtered water. it may also purify water if the filtration medium is small enough to”filter” the biological agents out of the water.

Water Purification is a process, similar to filtration, but the major aim of the purification process is to make the water fit to drink, ie. removing harmful micro-organisms.
